“Backlash” played all over London and Hertfordshire at many venues including Upstairs At Ronnies in Soho, The Cranbrook in Ilford and The Horn of Plenty (now called “The Horn”) in St Albans.
We also recorded an EP called “Off With His Head” featuring the tracks “Captain Pratt”, “Jackass”, “Chess Game” & “Battle” (also played on Capital Radio by Alan Freeman).
Backlash featured Alan Harris (Drums), Colin Watson (Lead Guitar & Vocals), Stuart Hay (Lead Vocals and Bass Guitar) and me (Keyboards, Guitar & Vocals).
Dave’s 6th Band -
”Head Waiter” had the same members as “Backlash”, apart from Bob Tibbetts (who used to play with me in Clam) replacing Colin Watson as lead guitar. We continued to play in and around London with a pretty large following. In 1985, we split up because Bob moved out of London and I had serious problems with my back. However, I continued to write songs for many years after that and played for many years in “Le Couderc Band” while on holidays in France.
